When we speak of residential additions in Washington DC, we most often ooh and ah over the wonderfully spacious family rooms and light filled kitchens. Yeah. They're okay, but let's not forget that additions come in all sizes and serve many purposes. Sometimes the least of these can have a big impact on curb appeal. Here is one we've got under construction right now. It's a few weeks away from completion.
As you can see, this entry porch addition is neither grand, provocative nor genre busting. We won't be having long discussions about it on the design blogs. It's just a little entry porch, a simple go-with-the-flow addition to the front entry of this typical no frills center hall colonial. And yet, it is perfect because it is precisely what it needs to be. It invites the eye and provides welcome shelter for arriving guests.
Here is what our little colonial looked like before. Are there any questions? I didn't think so.
