Our Chevy Chase client had a deck on the back of his home that had become little more than a collection area for debris from overhanging branches. He wanted a new porch addition that would match the symmetry and classic look of his brick colonial. Our designers styled a porch addition to look as if it were a part of the original house. Tall screen panels and a half moon clerestory window beautifully frame branches of the massive cherry tree that stands in the yard. Rich caramel colored ipe flooring and elegant painted support columns and trim work express a feeling of old world elegance. The copper roof, flashing and gutter systems contribute to that aesthetic. Skylights ensure that the porch interior feels open and bright even when trees overhead are in full leaf.   Photographer: Kenneth Wyner
