The porch landing outside the kitchen door was inadequate. When entertaining, the host and guests had to negotiate the small porch landing and narrow, wooden stairs to continue the party on the large flagstone patio. The architect designed a spacious deck with classic iron railings with eating and cooking areas. The bowed out front edge of the porch, the circular design in the railing, and the added special touches to this project. The large columns used for support mimicked the existing columns under the sunroom to tie the porch in with the existing porch design. The deck provided a shelter for the outdoor dining table on the patio level.
