KITCHENS

According to one of the homeowners, the kitchen they inherited when they bought their Chevy Chase home was “god-awful ugly.”

A previous owner had put on a small addition to provide a kitchen seating area.  But the renovation had been poorly conceived.

The new owners wanted to start from scratch.  The old kitchen was gutted—and the old addition torn down.

In the old floor plan, activity areas were thrown together in a jumble.  Though the space had been enlarged it still felt cramped and dark.

The new layout organizes space so that individual areas work separately and flow together.  It relates better to the outdoors, as well, and draws lots of light into the room.
