KITCHENS

A curvy soffit —where the wall was removed— softens the transition between rooms

The clients told us they had been habitually ordering take out instead of cooking because they so disliked their kitchen.

They did not care for its neo-traditional look.

They also did not enjoy the feeling of claustrophobia caused by battalions of dark cabinets.

They asked us to design a space that was sleek, urban & urbane.
And they wanted the new kitchen to be visually open to the living room--so as to encourage mingling when entertaining.

Note:  A curvy soffit —where the wall was removed— softens the transition between rooms and resonates with the organic form of art objects around the house.

Varia

Note:  Use of ‘Varia’ in the display cabinet door panels (see above).  Varia is a layered polyester material made by 3Form.  It is composed of 40% reclaimed materials and is non-toxic.
