BUILT-INS |
|
This gas fireplace installation was part of a much larger project involving the entire house. The client collects unusual art objects and asked us to create display cabinets that would show them off. We had to work around an immoveable fireplace vent that runs directly behind the upper left niche—so that one is only 5” deep. The “stepped” openings obscure this minor inconsistency and generally add depth/interest to the installation as a whole. Three shades of the same color were used randomly to paint the interior of each niche—this tends to accent the multiple surfaces in each. The cut outs for each of the six niches aren’t quite square or rectangular and tend to mimic forms in the shaker style base cabinets, fireplace surround, and television.
