Who We Are

It was 1979 when cousins Kevin and Thomas Gilday joined forces to provide remodeling services to Washington area homeowners. From their first project in Chevy Chase, they impressed clients with the genuine courtesy and pains-taking care that are company trademarks to this day.

Design, too, has been a key element of Gilday work. The first jobs were modest in scope: breakfast rooms, kitchens, baths, and small additions. Tom & Kevin provided a complete service for their clients. They sketched ideas on graph paper, did the drawings, estimated and built them.

In just three years, the business had grown to include three full-time carpenters and a kitchen designer. As projects increased in size, the design requirements grew in complexity. So Tom & Kevin brought their first architect on board. And they helped him to acquire the specialized skills needed for residential remodeling. Not long after that, the two traded their tool belts for power ties and devoted themselves full-time to managing the company.

Today, Gilday Design & Remodeling maintains a staff of 30 remodeling specialists including four architects, three interior designers and ten master carpenters.

Gilday designs have won numerous national and regional awards for excellence. The company has been represented in publications that include Chesapeake Home, Qualified Remodeler, Women's Day, Washingtonian, Kitchen & Bath Design News, Washington Home & Garden and the Washington Post
